THE YEAR IN SUM: This was a fantastic year for Cal Mock Trial. The team won 34 individual awards including three Downtown “All Stars” and four All-Americans. We came in first at the three tournaments and won 27 out of 32 ballots at regionals. We advanced the maximum number of teams to ORCS and Nationals. We were ranked in the top five by virtually everyone all year long. Cal A won first at UCLA, second at NYU, and third at GAMTI. Cal B and Cal C both won tournaments with large upsets and huge point differentials. At the National Championship Cal came within inches of winning our division and advancing to the fifth round for the first time ever. The team was just four points away from winning a ballot off of defending national champions NYU that would have meant a championship appearance. Cal A ultimately placed a somewhat disappointing 4th in the Belin Division with a CS of 21. Cal graduates a number of seniors off of both Nationals teams, but the program has demonstrated an unrivaled depth. Cal moves into 2011-2012 a respected powerhouse that will undoubtedly make a run at the ever elusive national title.
